The precinct provides an excellent representation of all three phases of the Workers’ Homes Board in Western Australia: early 1913/14 WHB housing (pre-WWI), 1920s War Service Homes houses and later 1930s/40s WHB houses (inter-war/pre-WWII).
The group comprises eighteen residences located to the north and south sides of Holland Street, and the south side of Forrest Street in Fremantle, between Stirling Highway and Montreal Street.
The houses are predominantly of brick construction, although one (79 Holland St) is timber clad.
A number of the properties have been subdivided and additional housing constructed to the rear of the lot.
