In the early days fruit barrows and flower sellers added colour and atmosphere to what was a bustling street. During the Second World War Forrest Place was a recruiting centre and fund raising post for the war effort. Forrest Place is best remembered as a political forum which has resounded to the wit and repartee of some of Australia's most famous political figures. Leaders such as Menzies and Whitlam.
