Statement of Significance

The Church Group is associated with the centralisation and growth of the Parish of Beverley as a concequence of the opening of the railway through Beverley in 1886.

Physical Description

St Mary's Anglican Church Precinct, Beverley comprises St Mary's Anglican Church (1892), St Mary's Anglican Rectory & Parish Hall ick (1889, 1957), a timber Memorial Lychgate (1956) and a mature Eucalyptus citriodora (Lemon Scented Gum) (c.1892).

History

Following the linking of Perth to Albany (via Guildford, York and Beverley) by train in the 1880s, the population of Beverley grew significantly. This growth led to the construction of a rectory (1889) then church (1892) in Beverley to serve the local population. Both buildings were designed by Howard Evans.
