This building is of historical importance in connection with local government. It was the original Roads Board office for the Upper Irwin district, when it was formed in 1901. It now serves the district of the Mingenew Shire Council as a Historical Museum.
This building is of local stone and mud mortar, with red brick quoins an iron roof and wooden floors. The front entrance has double hung windows, a glass and wood panel door and a fanlight. The side walls and back of the building each have one window, the lower panes of which are painted white.
