The building is the original Road Board Office and meeting place of the Upper Irwin Road Board (excised from the Irwin Road Board in 1901).
The building conforms to the general style of architecture in this period of the town's development. (Anglican Church, Hall {now the Lesser Hall, incorporating the Shire Offices}).
Single room building constructed of local sandstone with mud mortar joints, rendered. Corrugated iron roof. Front door and four narrow windows, supported by curved iron lintels. Brickwork painted, with white painted joints.
Integrity: The building has a high integrity and, with the exception of the front door, is as originally constructed.
Modifications: Front door and frame replaced with those from Mungaterra Homestead in 1970s
Fairoverall - interior good with no evidence of cracking; exterior some cracking above windows and deterioration of stone and mortar.
