The place has social value as a continuously operating service and hospitality business in the main street of Toodyay since c1870. It contributes to the community sense of place through this continuity of use.
The place has social value of the place for its association with Daniel Connor and the many proprietors who have operated the tea rooms since the 1870's.
The place has aesthetic value for its contribution to the Stirling Terrace streetscape.
Single height brick structure with prominent parapet slightly Egyptian in style with an Art Deco influence and double fronted glazed shop front with central recessed doors. A deep bullnose verandah canopy projects over the pavement. The shop front is rendered and painted with face brick on the side elevations.
Daniel Connor built this shop and dwelling and a number of others in Toodyay in the late 1860's. He sold this and other properties in 1886. It has always operated as a tearooms offering hospitality and services and there was also a bakery operating from here as well as a fuel bowser out the front. In the late 1920's or early 1930's when George Hames ran the tearooms, the glass shop frontage was added.
