Statement of Significance

A first class example of the quality of building at the time of the gold rush. A hotel was built on this site originally by WIlliam Leeder - license granted 1833. The hotel was purchased by De Baun in 1894 and demolished.

Physical Description

John DeBaun's Palace Hotel, according to Freeland (author the Australian Pub), was undoubtedly without peer in AUstralia when it opened in 1895.
