A place of exceptional cultural heritage significance to Town of Narrogin and the state of Western Australia, that is either in the Heritage Council of Western Australia's Register of Heritage Places or worthy of consideration for entry into the Register. Some places are currently on the Heritage Council's assessment program. A place worthy of recognition and protection through provisions of the Town of Narrogin's Town Planning Scheme. Planning application needs to be submitted to Town of Narrogin for any proposed development. Planning application needs to be referred to Regional Wheatbelt Heritage Adviser for comment and background information for HCWA. The development application needs to be submitted to Heritage Council (HCWA) for approval for any proposed development, and Town of Narrogin cannot approve contrary to HCWA recommendation. Recommend: Maximum encouragement to owners to retain and conserve the place. Full consultation with the property owner prior to listing.

Statement of Significance

The building is significant on the following grounds:
1. Erected in early years (1890s) for headmaster.
2. Used over the years for government offices, private home (Charles Mitchell), Youth Centre
and now Business Enterprise Centre.

Physical Description

Simple stone and iron building, with a wooden verandah.

The former dwelling is a random stone structure, on the front faced with brick quoined openings and corners. The zincalume clad roof is hipped and the front verandah extends in an unbroken skillion off the main roof. The building is modest in scale and size with a symmetrical two room frontage with central front entry.
