Physical Description

Located 1.6km N of Baddera mine and 13.6 km N of Northampton, on the boundary of Lot 9 and Mining Reserve 8033. It can be reached by following the Oakarea eastwards from the highway .

History

1.6km N of Baddera mine and 13.6 km N of Northampton, on the boundary of Lot 9 and Mining Reserve 8033. It can be reached by following the Oakarea eastwards from the highway ... reopened in 1949 to 1956 by the Gabalong Asbestos Co to produce 70 tons of lead and 43 oz of silver worked on the surface by shallow pits and an open cut over a distance of 150m and mined at depth from two shafts. .. open cut is 7.6m long ... northernmost of the two shafts is 24m N of the fence along the S boundary of lot 9 ... inclines 80deg W and is probably the shaft that Berliat records as .. 37m deep and which at that time (1952) was being deepened to 61m. The S shaft is 32m S of the fence line and about 45 feet W of the lode ... vertical with two compartments and is more than 30m deep. 5): (1903) From Appendix B, The Northampton Mining District, John Provis, June, 1903. The mine is about 2 miles N from the Baddera mine. There is one shaft about 5 fathoms deep .... It was worked in the early days by one John Hosking, and subsequently by James Mitchell. REFERENCES 1.
