The site represents the orchard industries which developed in the Capel River area.
Concrete slab is all that remains of the timber framed and corrugated iron clad sheds.
Locals worked there between 1937 and 1977. In 1977 the apple packing operation was transferred to Donnybrook as it was not viable in Capel. Granny Smith apples were packed for export.
