The place is significant for the following values: Aesthetic Value: The buildings have aesthetic significance as good examples of late Victorian timber cottages built by the Canning Jarrah Timber Company. Historic Value: The buildings have historic significance for their association with the Wellington Mills and timber township owned by the Canning Jarrah Timber Company established in 1896 and the Davis Mill established in 1881.
The timber workers cottages formed part of the Wellington timber mill township established in 1896 by Canning Jarrah Timber Company. The buildings were built between 1896 and 1919 when the timber mill was operating. The sleeper cutters continued to work after the complete closure of all of the associated mills in 1929. The buildings have survived relocation when the town and buildings were sold off and the devastating 1950 fire.
