Statement of Significance

The Shop (Hairdresser) has considerable social and historic significance as one of the early commercial premises in Mount Magnet. If the association with the first bank premises can be verified the place will have further significance. The building also contributes to the streetscape of the main street.

Physical Description

This small timber framed building is clad with corrugated iron and has a dutch gable roof. It features a mono-pitched verandah and large windows to the street front. The front facade has been remodelled and is partially clad with sheet metal. Two side windows on the south facade have been boarded up.

History

This shop is reputed to have been the premises of the first bank in Mount Magnet, however this requires clarification.
