Statement of Significance

Billy Sing's house has historic significance for its connection to the Afghan settlers in Dongara. Further it is representative of small frame and corrugated iron cottages of the era and is one of the few remaining corrugated iron clad houses in the town.

Physical Description

This small timber framed cottage clad with fibro has a corrugated iron gable roof. There are separate surrounding verandahs with a corrugated iron roof. Windows are casement style.

History

William (Billy) Sing is believed to have built this house about 1900. It is thought that he was employed by Francis Pearse. (Source: IDHS Records)
