A series of concrete trout ponds constructed flowing east to west and down into the Pemberton swimming pool. There is a gravel path from one section of the Pemberton Mountain Bike tracks. There is a steel and wooden bridge that crosses over the engineered stream bed.
The MacCallum Smith Memorial Trout Ponds, Pemberton is located in light forest along a tributary of the Lefroy Brook, approximately 150 m from the edge of the Pemberton town site to the southeast, and is adjacent to the pool within the place known as P13383 Pemberton Swimming Pool (RHP). To the north of the site is a small forest reserve. The place comprises the remnants of six concrete trout holding ponds, oriented northeast to southwest, which originally consisted of a pair of parallel concrete channels, divided into sections by grates, with diverted fresh water running through the chambers. The chambers stepped downhill towards the southwest, feeding water into the P13383 Pemberton Swimming Pool (RHP). Other structures at the site included a timber frame (to hold an awning or shade cloth) and small timber shed.
