The precinct is of exceptional significance in demonstrating a ranges of phases of history of the state and the region.
A series of sites and built fabric that interpret the existance of the first settlers in the district, pastoralism, the introduction of convicts, eucalyptus oil distillery, and agricultural development.
A lease was first taken up in 1864, when the sandalwood cutters were working in the area. In 1866, Bateman took over the lease, ran cattle and a crofter's cottage was built. He introduced convict labour to construct a well and also commence construction of a residence. In 1868, Walton and Heal took over, the Waltons settled in 1888, and Walton became sole owner in 1890. In 1892, JWS Parker designed and established a triple process eucalyptus oil distillery plant at his estate in Dangin. He also established a branch of the operation at Wogerlin Rock. In 1928, Caley's purchased the property and the family still owns the property.
