Statement of Significance

A substantial and attractive old house, one of few from this date in North Cottesloe. Mr Silsbury who lives in Gnver Street may be able to give some history

Physical Description

Large Edwardian "Queen Anne" style bungalow c 1910 -20 with a hipped roof, terracotta finials to the older section of the house, broken back roof over the verandahs leading to a gablet over the central bay window facing diagonally across the corner block. Half-timbered gable to eastern frontage. Painted brick. Part of the verandah has been glazed in. Behind can be seen three-light bay windows with smaller windows above. The glass is square leadlight. Stained glass inserts in the upper sections of these windows and in the lights above. The window sills are corbelled. There is no freize or valance to the verandah. Where this would have been has been boarded in. Verandah posts are square with chamfered edges and no brackets. The railing to the verandah edge is supported on square chamfered wooden balusters. The floor is wood. A lych gate, possibly of more recent date makes an entry statement to the property. Extensive additions to the rear of the house in 1988 have been sympathetically carried out.
