The weighbridge is of historic significance for associations with Fremantle harbour and the shipping and transport industries of the port.
Single storey face brick and zincalume gable hipped roof building, with car park behind. The east side of the building has a dropped veranda supported by timber columns and multi paned sash windows.
In 1897 the weighbridge was first installed, acting as a gateway between the harbour and the town centre. The brick office was built in 1921 by Albert Holmes, replacing an earlier timber structure. In 1924 a new weighbridge installed, enlarged 1934. The weighbridge closed on 24/12/1984. Currently (2002), Scoot Freo - Scoot car & scooter hire.
