Statement of Significance

Lake Indoon has both high natural as well as high social significance for both local and regional communities as a place of natural heritage value and also for the social use of the place.

Physical Description

A large lake lying to the south west of Eneabba and south of the Eneabba-Coolimba road. It is surrounded by white sandy beaches. Beyond the shoreline the area has large stands of tall river gums.

History

Lake Indoon was gazetted as an 'A' Class reserve in 1966. The north shore area has been popular as a picnic spot, while the lake itself has been used for water skiing and boating. Statewide water skiing championships have been held on the lake. Brick public toilet facilities have been built by the Shire of Carnamah.
