The place has historic value for its association with the settlement of the town of Gosnells. The tree has aesthetic value as a mature example of the species in excellent condition.
The mature and healthy tree is located close to the entry to’The Agonis’ building of the City of Gosnells which was opened in 2004. The tree is a major feature of the streetscape.
This jacaranda tree was planted c.1929 on the site of one of the first homes built in Gosnells townsite. There were several owners of this property until 1949 when the Robinson family purchased the property. The Robinson family recalls the jacaranda being a very large feature in their garden. The City of Gosnells bought the site in the 1960s to make way for the original Civic Centre, replaced in 2004 by The Agonis. It is now a major feature of the eastern side of The Agonis on Federation Parade, opened in 2004.
