Statement of Significance

The site represents a point of meeting and source of existance for early pastoralists and settlers.

History

This well was dug to supply water for the drovers and the sheep moving from Cuballing to the eastern areas such as Lake Yealering, Gnarming West, Kulin and Jilakin during the pastoral lease period up to the 1890s. The government established dams and wells at regular intervals throughout the country side to provide a water supply for the settlers and travellers.
