CALM Forestry House is of some historic and aesthetic significance for its associations with the work of the Forests Department, subsequently CALM, in the Wanneroo area.
CALM Forestry House is located on Lot 145, Reserve 6058, number 5 Dundebar Road Wanneroo. The site is situated on the corner of Wanneroo Road in the business area adjacent to the City of Wanneroo offices in the City of Wanneroo's Wanneroo Ward. The house is setback from the road on an elevated site and faces south towards Dundebar Road. The site also includes the CALM School classroom. The house is set in the remnants of an earlier garden context with a timber framed and weatherboard clad washhouse on east side of the house. Landscaping includes semi mature Eucalypts, native shrubs and ground cover. There is a driveway on the west side of the house. The single storey house is timber framed and weatherboard clad and has a corrugated iron clad hipped and hipped gabled roof. The roof extends over a verandah on the east side of the facade which is supported by timber posts. The windows
In 1907 the town site of 'Wanneru' was gazetted. Although known locally as 'Wanneroo', it was not until May 1953 that the spelling was amended. The Workers' Homes Board was established in 1911 with the primary role of providing housing for Western Australian workers. The Forests Department (subsequently CALM) used a number of the standard house plans to house their employees. There was shortage of accommodation for Forests Department staff following World War II. In 1949 however War Loans Money became available to assist in provision of housing. Illustrations of house types built for use as Forestry Cottages suggest that this house built after World War II and may be a Type 6C although the house has been altered. The house is currently (2004) used as CALM'S District Office in Wanneroo. BA57/0143
