The Mingenew Spring is a 1.0168 hectare Reserve bounded by Spring and Linthome Streets. It is now a park with benches and paths between large flood gums and is managed by the Mingenew Tourist and Promotions Committee. A small well has been dug and a bore drilled for water.
In 1850 Augustus Gregory and his party camped at the Minya-noo Spring (Mingenew)(ants -many). It then became an important permanent watering place. In 1867 Samuel Pole Phillips secured a tillage Lease No 4524 comprising 100 acres surrounding Mingenew Spring. The local aborigines pronounced Mingenew MININO, a place of many waters. By 1893 the freehold was owned by his son, Samual James Phillips as Victoria Loc 1188. The former tillage lease was subdivided into 156 town allotments by the surveyor of the Midland railway Co. The town flourished around the Spring which provided the water for some of the Railway use and by 1900 three blacksmiths and wheelwrights were based around the Spring. Unfortunately a bore was drilled west of the reserve in 1981/1982 followed by many others and the water table dropped. Clearing of one block for safety and the other for a caravan park also damaged the area. Work has been done lately by the Tourist & Promotions Committee to turn the area into an inviting park using water as a theme.
Integrity: Water source still exists but landscape much modified. Modifications: Surrounding landscape much modified
