The elements of the workshops with the remaining machinery have research value of methods of milling and bulk handling. The site has historic value for its association with the Yarloop workshops since the early 20th century.
Complex of industrial sheds predominantly of timber framed and metal construction with concrete floors. The structures have corrugated metal cladding to the walls and/or open sides and shallow pitched gable roofs. The sheds are large open spaces with remnant machinery and mechanical apparatus extending through the spaces. The structures were constructed in phases and express stylistic differences. Four large open sheds of differing sizes have been constructed to the north of the yard. The sheds are constructed with bush timbers, open to all sides and incorporate a very shall pitched metal and timber framed roofs. An octagonal structure of timber and metal framed construction is situated approximately in the centre of the yard. The shed is open to the sides with a metal roof with all roof members orientated towards the centre of the roof structure. A large timber turntable dominates the space. The Mill and two of the air drying sheds were severely damaged or destroyed as a result of the January 2016 Yarloop/Harvey/Waroona fire.
This complex of industrial buildings were built as an adjunct to the earlier steam driven timber mill within the Yarloop workshops. It was referred to as the 'Top Yard' and was often used for stacking of timber. Bunnings established a timber mill on this site which in the late 20th century was purchased by Gunns Timber Mills. In 2008 the mill was closed. Since that time the premises has been used by a local haulage contractor for storage of stock and vehicles. The track and machinery from the original function is still in situ. The Mill and two of the air drying sheds were severely damaged or destroyed as a result of the January 2016 Waroona Fire.
