Statement of Significance

Together with its neighbours at 196 and 198, this house forms part of a inner precinct of specifically seaside flavoured homes.

Physical Description

This 1986 house snuggles down into a hollow between its larger neighbours and is a very simple double fronted rectilinear design influenced by many domestic designs that preceded it. Simple planes of walls capped by lightly corbelled parapets and penetrated by full height windows. The parapet conceals a low pitched roof. The walls are made of brick and are bagged and painted. A timber framed pergola covered front deck with rail and wire balustrade lift the design out of the norm to give it a subtle distinctive air. It also features minor post modern elements such as a high level string course and arch.
