Historic - James Garnet' came to Gnowangerup in I907 he was an early member of the Gnowangerup Progress Association and Road Board. Son Glen started the Glenroy Stud which went on to become one of the state's leading merino studs in the I970s.
Glenroy. or Old Glenroy as it is now known is situated on Soldiers Road. Gnowangerup. This house was the third that he had build on the property and this was built in 1922. Built of mud bricks and renovated extensively, this house is hardly recognisable as it used to appear. Gienroy Stud was founded by James' son Glen and was one of the formost merino studs in Western Australia.
