Notable as an early settlement site and home of a notable early pioneer, William Bingham. The Bingham name is commemorated in the area by the river, which is a northern tributary of the East branch of the Collie River.
Located on a hill overlooking the township of Williams some 4 kms to the south. A heap of rubble with the presence of building rock indicates a stone dwelling. Remnant fruit trees also mark the site.
William Bingham first secured a tillage lease of 100 acres in 1867 which later became Location 130. In addition, he held a pastoral lease of 3,000 acres sited south of Cooraminning Spring. He seems to have concentrated in enlarging and consolidating his property near Williams and finally abandoned his pastoral lease sited near Cooraminning. This is one of the few properties still remaining in the family name of the original selector. Bingham figured prominently in local government affairs and held mail contracts for many years.
