Statement of Significance

The smelter was gazetted, in 1903. The first load of ore was delivered by Dunn Bros' team in September 1903. The smelter proved to be too small and a new No 2 Government smelter was built 3 kms South of Ravensthorpe. Plant was shifted from the No 1 Smelter to the No 2 Smelter and the only remains are a stone retaining wall, embankment and old rusty relics.

Physical Description

Built near the Cordingup Gap on Esperance Road 7km East of Ravensthorpe.

Integrity/Authenticity
