Statement of Significance

Evidence of artists' fraternity who spent time painting in hills and type of cottage they built for the purpose. First purchased in 1913 as weekend retreat by artist Fred Williams. Sold Dec. 1913, used as holiday cottage until 1927 (new dwelling built).

Physical Description

Weatherboard & iron cottage, originally 2 or 3 rooms with lean-to kitchen, fibro. walls & ceilings with small but ornate metal ceiling roses in 2 rooms. Internal door of hand-crafted jarrah slats set diagonally. Set on hillside in bush setting.
