Statement of Significance

The place is representative of the Australian Pub tradition as a single-storey hotel with a verandah that extends over the pavement and a rendered parapet as a dominant streetscape element.

Physical Description

: A single-storey building built in rock-faced stone with rendered quoin work. The roof is concealed behind a highly decorative and rendered parapet with a triangular pediment and classical motifs. Windows are double hung sashes with frames recessed behind the outer face of the building.

A verandah extends over the footpath along the street facade. The verandah roof is covered with corrugated galvanised iron and supported on slender posts decorated with carved timber brackets.

History

The Insurance Plans for Boulder c. 1900 illustrate Lot 114 as having the Lake View Hotel (a brick building with a front verandah) and two iron outbuildings at the rear.
