Piercy Building, 2 Henderson Street, is a single storey brick and iron commercial building dating from 19xx. The walls are painted rendered masonry to the front elevation, and face brick to the side. The roof is hipped and clad with corrugated iron. There is a rendered parapet with twin gable pediments. It features painted plaster moulded bands above the verandah roof, which is a separate dropped skillion iron roof supported by steel poles. It has a frieze of vertial battens the length of the verandah roof. The front elevation is bifold timber panel and glass doors.
Currently (2010) ‘Old Shanghai’ food hall.
Captain Edmund Yeamans Walcott Henderson arrived in the Scindian in 1850, in charge of the first convicts. He built the Convict Establishment (Fremantle Prison) and the Warders’ Quarters in Henderson St. Henderson returned to England in 1863.
