The well site has high historic significance for its connection with the early exploration settlement of the district.
Site only. The well site is situated about 2km. north east of the Three Springs townsite, within the road reserve. A concrete pipe now stands above the well, placed because of the well's close proximity to the road. A plaque has been erected on the site.
One of the original 'three springs' for which the town was named. The well was close to the 'Old North Road' and was used for stock watering for early travellers and settlers. In the 1930's, the hotel owner took over rights to the well and a mill and storage tank was constructed. Water was pumped some 50 metres to the storage tank for exclusive use by the hotel, farmers were only permitted water directly from the well. In winter water came to the surface and ran along the road. Sources: History of Three Springs pi, and A. McAleer.)
