Statement of Significance
These Showground buildings have historical and social significance. The Kojonup Show continues to be an important event in the life of a rural community, and run by the Pastoral and Agricultural Society.
Physical Description
The Showgrounds are located along the Donnybrook Road approximately two kilometres from the Kojonup townsite. Surrounding the grounds is a row of mature pine trees planted at the time of the opening. Scattered buildings on the site have varied uses, including an office, bar, Exhibition Hall, sheep pavilion, shearing shed and the Centenary Pavilion which is used to display local children's school work. The Grandstand was demolished in the mid 1970's and the timber was used in the construction of a house (location uncertain). The Show is still held annually.
History
The original agricultural shows were held on the site of the Kojonup hospital, and in the post war period the Kojonup Showgrounds were moved from the town location to the outskirts of town where they are presently located.
