History

George Dunkley was an Englishman who came from Melbourne to Bunbury, and then to work at the Stirling Estate in 1904. After applying for separate land allocations, he received land for himself, his wife Harriet, and daughter Sophia, Locations 80 and 85 which were connected by a bridge over the drain, near Fred Tuckers. Dunkley was in charge of digging the drains for the Stirling Estate. He built a log cabin, and later a timber house with timber from Summer's Ludlow Mill. Later they got more land. There was an explosion at another house which tragically killed one of Dunkley's daughters. Jim Johannsen lived in the house for many years, when he worked for Dunkley.
