This single storey brick, tile and timber bungalow, in the
Federation Queen Anne style, has cultural significance
because:
it has historical significance through its associations
with Jesse James, Reginald and Lillie Goodman and
Geoff Ogden;
it is a comparatively rare example of a fine example
of its style and bungalow form, which retains such a
high level of integrity;
it is part of a cultural group and a townscape area.
The place is a handsome example of a Federation Queen
Anne style bungalow, which has been sympathetically
refurbished.
This bungalow has a high level of integrity that
demonstrates a high level of technical skill in the manner
that the detail elements complement the overall form and
style of the place.
The place was built on land originally belonging to Jesse
James, who ran a market garden on the site from the earliest
years of the suburb's establishment. Reginald and Lillie
Goodman constructed the residence and occupied 41 Irvine
Street for half a century. Refurbished by well known
entrepreneur, Geoff Ogden. Some historical significance.
Thoughtfully restored and extended by G Ogden.
Apparent loss of decorative detail to verandah.
Part dwelling demolished 2001
