Statement of Significance

Historically the site may be significant as it was possibly the first mine set up in the Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley.
The opening of this mine may have attracted the interest of other investors to further exploration in the East Kimberley. Today visitors are encouraged to view an operating mine, which still uses old mining methods, with little or no modern machinery.

Physical Description

About 100 metres from the Kununurra-Wyndham Road, are remnants of the mining operations. On the left hand side going towards the pit is an 'open' camp site with tables of ore samples for display and sale. The ore deposits contain silver, gold, copper, lead, zinc, antimony as a mixed ore and other more rare minerals. The open cut pit is approximately 500 m2 and has been cut to a depth of approximately 10 metres. The minesite is surrounded by native bush land.
