the building has importance firstly for is prominent architectural character and presence as a building set on high ridge in expansive grounds and secondly for its social significance through housing an educational institution.
The three storied brick building with high pitched tiled roof and cupola; the walls relieved by projecting bays with painted stucco decoration and bands of stucco in the “blood and bandages” manner.
The building, designed by James Hine in a chaste, non-classical style was constructed in 1907. The Chapel is also a noteworthy space in the building. The building stands on high ground overlooking Freshwater Bay to the south and the extensive grounds of the college to the north.
