History

Stephen Longbottom was the first owner of Serpentine Falls Farm, where he built a cottage sometime in the 1850s. At this time, Longbottom also established a flour mill on the Carralong Brook. In 1861,vhe sold the farm to Bishop Hale, and he and his family left Serpentine for good in 1865.
Today there are ruins of a stone cottage on the Lefroy property which is locally known as the former Collet's cottage. This cottage may be located on the same site as was Longbottom's cottage.
