History

The Fremantle Smelting Works was established in 1898. The smoke stack, a valuable aid to navigation, was demolished by the United States Navy in 1942. The site was later occupied by Bradford Kendall Foundries Pty Ltd (next to the Robb Jetty Freight Terminal).

Research to date has not located any information on use of the site as a holiday campsite.
