remnants assist with telling the story of the rise and demise of mining settlements.
Located north of Mount Magnet, all that remains of the Lennonville Townsite are the ruins of several buildings such as the blacksmith's shop and hotel, the railway platform and some mine shafts. Nearby is the site of the rifle range, the cemetery and the race track.
Prospectors Lennon and Parker discovered the Rock of Ages in what became known as the Lennonville district, formerly known as the Eight Mile and the Ten Mile. Interest was raised and the rich reefs of the area discovered which resulted in many people coming to the vicinity. A settlement started to develop. The townsite of Lennonville was proclaimed on 30 September, 1898. There were many mines in the vicinity of the Lennonville Townsite, including the Long Reef, Piedmont, the Gift, the Welcome and the Wheel of Fortune. These mines were in operation mainly between 1896 and 1906 attracting many people to the area. In 1909 a huge fire swept through the town, demolishing most of the main street. That same year saw the closing of the Lennonville State Battery. When the town demised many of the buildings were relocated to other towns, especially Mount Magnet and Boogardie, by jinker.
