History

William Jenkin Roberts arrived on the Diadem with the WA Company in Leschenault. By 1842, he was looking elsewhere. He worked for G Eliot to care for 6000 sheep on locations 82 and 121, before he got an opportunity to lease part of James Stirling's holding south of Bunbury in 1843. He took up Stirling Location 143 and moved in with his wife Isabella and seven children.
He built a wattle & daub and split post house, with the assistance of his sons William Jerkin junior, Fred and Thomas. His son Charles Fox was born there in 1844.
W.J.'s son William leased Location 69 on Gynudup Brook and also built a slab hut. In 1850, he married Elizabeth Hurst and they called their farm 'Tren Creek' (Location 204) in honour of their Cornish background. He employed TOLs on the property. In 1850, John Scott jnr married Miss Catherine (Roberts?) at 'North Capel Farm'. Anglican communion services were held there.
Originally selection of W. J. Roberts. It was the post office, run by John Scott junior. The place where the school teacher's boarded until the Gynudup Brook School closed in 1882. After 1880 it was a Cobb & Co Staging post.
William J Robert Juniors great great grandson Garry Scott, and his wife Beverley still farm part of the Tren Creek property.
