The trees mark the location of the old Midland Junction Railway Station.

Physical Description

A row of palm trees positioned on the site of the former Midland Railway Station, opposite the Agriculture Department's building.

History

Midland Junction Railway Station was built in 1895 in response to an influx of general traffic associated with the completion of the Midland Railway between Midland and GinGin through to Walkaway in 1894. The Station remained until 1968 when it was demolished and a new building was constructed at a cost of around $394,000. The Station was named 'Rapid Transit Terminal'. The new terminal was planned to link the suburban train service with bus services operating in the district.
