• The place has historic value for its association with the earliest landholders on the property that made a contribution to the establishment and development of the Shire of Harvey.
Plaque on stone
The name Shenton Vale derives from the first land grant of 9,446 acres (Location 5) to William Kernot Shenton in 1830. In 1838, he sold 3,250 acres to Richard Wells who called the property 'Bon Alliance' and who grew Harvey's first garden.
In 1879, the property was bought by Robert Henry Rose and Maria Rose of the adjacent property 'Roelands Park'. In 1910, the property was transferred to William Allnutt Rose and his wife Berth Kate Rose. They named the property 'Shenton Vale' and the farm consisted of 600 acres at that time.
In 1970, the property was transferred to Don Bradman Rose and Margaret Rose. The property continues to be held by the Rose family.
