The Camel Soak has some historic significance for its association with the construction of the No. 2 Rabbit Proof Fence. The place has considerable aesthetic appeal given its attractive setting and is held in high esteem by the local community.
The Camel Soak is located to the east of the Rabbit Proof Fence Road in a large rocky granite outcrop. The hole is approximately 3 metres by 5 metres is size and is partly fenced with metal poles mounted on rock bases.
Work on the construction of the No. 2 Rabbit Proof Fence commenced in 1903 in an attempt to control the mounting problem of rabbits in agricultural lands. The fence was completed on 22 July 1905. The Camel Soak was originally sunk as a watering point for the men and their camel teams working on the fence, it is now a popular picnic site and is also known as "Rock Hole".
