The site has significant associations with the Glover family and education in Mooliabeenie from 1900 to 1940s.
The stumps of the school house remain, as do a number of artefacts. The one room school quarters was a weatherboard building with a brick chimney, and interior ripple iron wall lining. Various plantings are still evident; geraniums and a lemon scented gum.
Mooliabeenie School opened in 1904, with Mr and Mrs Brown
teaching, (opened in 1910 with Miss Alice Jeffrey teaching and boarding with A Kaye: Buchanan) In 1913, John Peters was the teacher at Mooliabeenie, and later at Muchea. In 1915, Randall Glover planted the lemon scented gum which is still evident at the site. (In February 1916, a school reopened in Mooliabeenie: Udell)
In 1929, centenary medals were presented to the Mooliabeenie School students during a sports day at the sports ground on Westlake's property.
Between July 1930 and October 1935, the school was closed. During World War Two the school closed, and it burnt down in 1950.
Mrs Ruby Scantlebury (nee Glover) and her mother Daphne Glover both attended the school and were taught by the same teacher, Mr Donagher.
The adjacent tennis courts were a community venue as was the school.
