The place is representative of Western Australia's bulk grain handling facilities which contribute to the efficient storage for exportation of grain, an important facet in Western Australia's economy.
'A' type horizontal storage unit, 91 x 23 metres with a grain capacity of 14 500 cubic metres.1
The floor and walls are reinforced concrete with a gable roofs covered with cgi supported by steel trusses. The doors are 30 m high and 3.8 m wide for use by front-end loaders. Receival points are at Warup, Bokal, Piesseville and Eallaying.2
In 1964, a pest control depot was built adjacent to the complex.
An 'A type storage was constructed by Cooperative Bulk Handling Ltd. in 1964, and was ready for the 1964-65 * season. The fixed machinery had a loading capacity of 1,800 cubic metres. For the 1975-76 season a steel framed bulkhead was brought into operation.
A new $1.37 million CBH bin was opened at Wagin 1981, almost trebling the town's grain storage facilities.3
