Retain and conserve if possible: endeavour to conserve the significance of the place through the provisions of the town planning scheme; photographically record the place prior to any major redevelopment or demolition.

Statement of Significance

This homestead is a good example of an early Western Australian Homestead. The original holding extended from existing boundary to the north, existing boundary to the east incorporated a large part of Yarragadee to the South. Very few similar buildings remain in the district.

Physical Description

The homestead is situated on Nangetty Creek and is visible from the road. The owners live in a transportable building nearby.
The homestead complex comprises two linked hipped-roof buildings, the smaller one with simpler finishes appearing to be older. Construction is of mudbrick/mudwash limewash walls in the old part; the newer part is mudbrick treated limewash interior and lime plaster. Brick quoins on corners and doorways. Iron roof, rammed earth floors. The newer building has feature breezeway walls in a centrally located lounge. Verandahs are about 10ft wide. Knotted pine ceilings.

Integrity/Authenticity

Integrity: Original fabric still intact, but deteriorating rapidly.
Modifications: Some verandah infill

Condition

Poor and deteriorating. Dropping verandahs have caused cracking in exterior walls. White ants in ceiling. Weathering of mud bricks through loss of protective render. Roof starting to lift.
