History

Brickhouse Station is located on the Gascoyne River and was originally called ‘Mungarra Squatting Company’ in 1891, extending to the river mouth with sheep yards where the ANZ Bank Building now stands. The present homestead was built from handmade bricks in 1919, which explains the name ‘Brickhouse’. The place is of handmade brick and iron construction. The place served as the main homestead building for the Mungarra Squatting Company for many years. This was the first station acquired by Septimus Burt who divided the property into three sections for three of his sons to manage.
