Statement of Significance
The place is a landmark in Shackleton and makes a significant contribution to the streetscape and character of Shackleton. It has associations with the beginnings of banking in the rural areas; the Agricultural Bank.
Physical Description
One room construction of a timber frame with weatherboard cladding, it has a roof with the gable at the front, with a skillion verandah roof.
History
It operates as an agency for Bankwest, formerly the R & I and the Agricultural Bank before that. It has the smallest operating bank in the world.
The building was relocated from Bruce Rock where it was the office from Jim Loller's blacksmith business in Butcher Street Bruce Rock. Loller had taken over from McKay in 1925, after McKay established the blacksmith and wheelwright business in 1913 and Loller later became his partner. It then became Loller and sons until 1939. During the later years of the business, up to seven men were employed by Loller.
