The North Midlands District Hospital buildings have social significance for their role in the health care system of Three Springs and surrounding areas.
A modern single story building with a corner entrance and a stone feature wall. The new nurses quarters are located to the west. Construction materials are brick, aluminium windows and tiled roof.
The first hospital was in a farm house on the property of C. C. Maley (see Place No.36), subsequently the hospital operated from a house owned by M. Brown, north east of the town. A committee was formed in 1926 in order to raise funds for the purpose of constructing a new hospital,. The committee was chaired by the district's medical practitioner Dr. M. A. Mayrhofer other members were A. R. Strutton, J. Hebiton, K.S. Glyde, and S.C. Gooch. The hospital was opened in 1930 by the Hon. F. Baxter. The total cost was £4,410, half of this amount having been raised by public subscription. The original hospital buildings have had many changes and additions since 1930, a maternity wing being added in March 1942. Another wing was added in 1961, and major renovations and additions were completed in 1981 and opened by the premier, Sir Charles Court in November of that year.
