Statement of Significance

The saleyards (assessed in 2007) is one of the largest saleyards in Australia, and the largest in WA in terms of area. It is WA's longest operational and only surviving metropolitan saleyward.

Physical Description

Midland Saleyards (assessed in 2007) is an industrial site of 11.392 hectares comprising animal pens, animal loading ramps, shelters for buyers and sellers, access roads, two large covered holding pen structures, ancillary facilities such as the truck wash area and parking areas, and a central, tree-lined compound of facilities for staff and stock agents comprising the canteen, an elevated office building, three stock agents buildings (Blue Huts) and a toilet block;
